Mareike Krause serves as a Researcher at the Institute for German Studies within the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Rostock since May 2024. Her work focuses on integrating linguistic research into educational contexts, particularly through the Language Variation@School platform.
Her research centers on language variation in educational settings, examining dialectology, multilingualism, and historical language development. Key interests include implementing cross-cutting linguistic themes in teacher training, analyzing regional language attitudes among educators, and developing practical classroom resources for addressing linguistic diversity. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical pedagogy through collaborative projects like the Language Variation@School initiative.
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on digital integration of language history, dialect perception in educational contexts, and vertical language variation teaching methodologies. Her research consistently targets practical applications for German language instruction, with emphasis on teacher training needs and student engagement with linguistic diversity.
Krause actively contributes to academic discourse through conference presentations at venues including the GAL Research School and the Forum for Language Variation. Her collaborative projects involve partnerships with the Society for the History of German Language, the International Society for Dialectology of German, and Philipps University Marburg's Center for Teacher Education.
She directs the Language Variation@School platform, which develops and disseminates teaching materials connecting contemporary linguistic research with classroom practice. The platform serves as a hub for resources on dialect variation, multilingualism, and historical language development tailored for secondary German instruction.
