Professor Marcy May holds a Ph.D. from SUNY-Binghamton (1984), one of the first doctoral degrees in the History of Women. She is a Professor in the Department of History at Western Connecticut State University, affiliated with the Macricostas School of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on American History, Historiography, and the History of Women, with notable projects including studies on the New Deal’s Resettlement Administration and 20th-century women’s roles.
She has held prestigious fellowships such as the Mary Ingraham Bunting Fellowship at Radcliffe/Harvard, Revson Fellowship at SUNY-Albany, and Berkshire Fellowship. Her publications include Women’s Roles in Twentieth Century America (2009) and co-edited The What’s New Christian Right (1996). Current research examines New Deal-era social policies.
Teaching interests span American History, Historiography, and Women’s History. Her scholarly work bridges legal history, social policy, and gender analysis, with contributions to journals like Labor History and Feminist Studies.
