Prof. Marcos Vera Hernandez is Professor of Economics at University College London (UCL), with affiliations including Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), and Research Affiliate at the Stone Centre on Wealth Concentration, Inequality, and the Economy. He is an Honorary Board Member of COSME (Spanish equivalent to Women in Economics) and founding Economics Academic Co-Director of the UCL Policy Lab (2020-2024).
His academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Economics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, preceded by studies in Madrid and Tenerife. Research focuses span health economics in low-, middle-, and high-income countries, with emphasis on health insurance, health investments, healthcare provider behavior, and evaluation of health interventions across China, Chile, Colombia, India, Jamaica, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Spain, UK, and USA.
