Marcos Santamaria Mariscal

Dr. Marcos Santamaria Mariscal serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Business Administration at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, University of Burgos, where he contributes to academic instruction and research in financial disciplines.

He earned his PhD from the University of Burgos in 2007 with the dissertation Propiedad, control y resultados de la banca española (Ownership, Control, and Results of Spanish Banking), supervised by Dr. Valentín Azofra Palenzuela.

Dr. Santamaria Mariscal's research centers on Financial Economics and Accounting, with specialized focus on nonprofit financial structures and corporate finance mechanisms. His work examines banking sector dynamics in Spain through both theoretical and empirical lenses.

He actively participates in the FINNPO (Finance in Nonprofit Organizations) research group and was previously affiliated with the CORFIN (Corporate Finance) group, contributing to institutional knowledge in financial governance. His academic service extends to the Interuniversity Business Economics PhD program and the Legal, Economic and Social Sciences PhD program at the University of Burgos.
