Marcos Nadal Roberts

Dr. Marcos Nadal Roberts is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He holds a Doctorate in Humanities and Social Sciences (2008) and has been affiliated with UIB since 2006, with a stint at the University of Vienna (2012–2015). He is part of the Human Evolution and Cognition Research Group (EVOCOG), focusing on psychological and neural mechanisms of aesthetic and moral judgments. His work examines perceptual, cognitive, and affective processes underlying evaluations of attractiveness, morality, and appropriateness.

He has authored over 80 scientific publications and secured funding from 10 research projects. Awards include the Gottlieb Baumgarten Award (2014) and Daniel E. Berlyne Award (2017). He teaches in the Psychology undergraduate program and the Master’s in Human Cognition and Evolution, supervising 3 doctoral theses. He has served as Associate Editor of Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts and is currently Executive Editor of Empirical Studies of the Arts.

Administratively, he has held roles such as Director of the Department of Psychology, Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Human Cognition and Evolution, and leadership in academic committees. He actively engages in outreach, including public science events and media collaborations. His research integrates interdisciplinary approaches to human cognition, with EVOCOG’s focus on aesthetic cognition, moral behavior, and language evolution.
