Marco Schlichting is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Warwick. His research focuses on homotopical methods in algebraic geometry, including algebraic K-theory, A1-homotopy theory, motivic cohomology, and homology of classical groups. He has held a Leverhulme Fellowship from 2018 to 2019 and received an EPSRC grant (EP/M001113/1) from 2015 to 2018. His work explores foundational questions in algebraic topology and geometry, with notable contributions to the understanding of Euler class groups, Grothendieck-Witt groups, and cyclic homology. He teaches advanced courses such as MA3G6 Commutative Algebra and has contributed to seminal papers in top-tier journals like Advances in Mathematics and Inventiones Mathematicae.
His research interests span a broad spectrum of algebraic geometry and topology, with a particular emphasis on homotopy-theoretic approaches to classical problems in algebra. His EPSRC grant supported foundational studies in algebraic K-theory and related areas, while his Leverhulme Fellowship enabled further exploration of hermitian K-theory and motivic homotopy. He collaborates with leading mathematicians such as A.J. Berrick, G. Cortiñas, and C. Weibel, as evidenced by joint publications in prestigious venues.
