Dr. Marco Schade is a researcher affiliated with the Cytology and Evolutionary Biology department at the University of Greifswald's Zoological Institute and Museum. His primary research focuses on vertebrate paleontology, particularly the systematics and paleobiology of Mesozoic dinosaurs. Current projects include the DFG-funded investigation of thyreophoran dinosaur evolution and the paleobiogeography of marine reptiles in northern Germany.
He currently supervises three student theses: Tom Leibnitz (avian skeletal studies), Matti Frenz (avian axial morphology), and Natalie Kirstein (Europasaurus braincase analysis). Recent work has explored spinosaurid cranial adaptations, sauropod precociality, and the first pterosaur record from Grimmen. Dr. Schade collaborates extensively with institutions like the University of Greifswald and has contributed to high-impact journals like Scientific Reports and Palaeontologia Electronica.
