Dr. Marco Lisi is a Visiting Professor (Satellite Navigation) at the University of Bradford’s Faculty of Engineering & Digital Technologies, affiliated with the Bradford-Renduchintala Centre for Space AI. He retired from the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2019 after serving as Special Advisor in the Navigation Directorate and Chief Technical Advisor to the European GNSS Agency (GSA). Previously, he held roles as a Special Advisor to the European Commission on space policies (2012–2014) and has over four decades of experience in aerospace, defense, and telecommunications sectors.
- Education: Summa cum laude Dottore Ingegnere in Electronic Engineering (University of Roma, 1980); Executive MBA (IRI Management School, 2000).
His expertise spans systems engineering, project management, GNSS, and satellite navigation. He teaches at universities in Italy, Bulgaria, and the Russian Federation and has authored over 250 papers, holds five patents, and contributes to professional journals.
Prof. Lisi’s affiliations include Life Senior Membership at IEEE and AIAA, and roles on editorial and advisory boards of international journals and conferences. He currently collaborates with companies like u-blox, providing guest lectures and equipment donations for the MSc in Satellite Systems Engineering program.
- Awards: Honorary Life President of INCOSE Italy (founded 2008), Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society.
He advises on R&D collaborations, such as the Navigation Satellite Systems module in Bradford’s MSc program, and serves as an independent consultant for aerospace projects.
