Marco Iacoboni

Marco Iacoboni is a Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and a member of the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and the Brain Research Institute. He directs the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Lab at the Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Center, focusing on non-invasive brain stimulation and imaging techniques like TMS, tDCS, and fMRI.

His research explores mirror neuron systems, social cognition, empathy, and neural mechanisms of imitation. Key projects include investigating neuroplasticity in depression, reducing group prejudice through neuromodulation, neural substrates of empathy, and interdisciplinary applications of neuroscience in education and musicology.
