Dr. Marco Hoozemans is an Associate Professor at the Department of Human Movement Sciences, Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Amsterdam (2001) focusing on musculoskeletal symptoms related to pushing/pulling activities. His research emphasizes upper extremity biomechanics in work, rehabilitation, and sports, with projects involving baseball pitching, tennis, wheelchair basketball, and geriatric mobility. He teaches courses on research methodology, epidemiology, and statistics.
He serves as Associate Editor of IISE Transactions on Occupational Ergonomics and Human Factors, and is a member of the Faculty’s Ethical Review Board. Notable contributions include studies on wearable sensor applications in sports biomechanics and clinical outcomes post-total knee arthroplasty.
Key awards include the 2004 Liberty Mutual Best Paper Award. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
