معرفی
Marco Amabili is a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) Professor in Vibrations and Fluid-Structure Interaction at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, McGill University (Faculty of Engineering). He also holds a part-time professor position at the Department of Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma, Italy.
- 2020: Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada
- 2019: Koiter Lecture, Dutch Research School on Engineering Mechanics
- 2018: Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts
Education: Master of Science (Summa cum laude) from the University of Ancona, Italy (1992).
Professor Amabili's research focuses on nonlinear vibrations, stability, and fluid-structure interaction in shells, plates, and vascular biomechanics. His work applies higher-order shear and thickness deformation theories to traditional, composite, and soft materials, with significant contributions to modeling nonlinear damping and microscale dynamics.
His publications include monographs on nonlinear vibrations and papers in journals like Nature Communications and Physical Review X. These works span composite materials, biological structures, and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), emphasizing experimental validation and advanced theoretical frameworks.
Scientific Awards:
- 2024: Member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA)
- 2020: Worcester Reed Warner Medal (ASME)
- 2015: Christophe Pierre Research Excellence Award (McGill University)
- 2009: Canada Research Chair Tier 1
- 1999: Bourse Québécoise d’Excellence
He has served as Contributing Editor for multiple journals and chaired the Canadian National Committee for IUTAM. His editorial roles include Associate Editor for Journal of Fluids and Structures and Applied Mechanics Reviews.
