Marcia England is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Geography at Miami University. Her work intersects urban, cultural, and feminist geographies, focusing on public space accessibility and media/pop culture geographies through a feminist lens. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky (2006), preceded by a M.A. and B.A. from the University of Washington, Seattle (2002, 1998).
Her research examines how social norms shape real and mediated spaces, including studies on artificial insemination spatialities, reproductive justice, digital subcultures like SuicideGirls, and urban fear dynamics. She has authored/co-authored books such as Public Privates and Reproductive Geographies, and contributed to journals like Gender, Place & Culture and Environment and Planning A.
Teaching focuses include global diversity (GEO 101), gender geography (GEO 302), and research methods (GEO 601). Her work bridges academic and applied contexts, addressing mental health stigma in academia and policy-relevant spatial justice issues.
