Marcia Castro is the Andelot Professor of Demography at Harvard University, chairing the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She also directs the Brazil Studies Program at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies and holds affiliate roles at the Harvard University Center for the Environment and Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies.

Notable contributions include spatiotemporal analysis of the 2020 pandemic, vaccine efficacy studies, and WHO advisory roles in malaria control.
