Marcello BRIGANTE

Marcello BRIGANTE is a Professor at the University of Clermont Auvergne, affiliated with the UFR of Chemistry. He holds an HDR accreditation (2012) and has been a faculty member since 2009. His roles include leading the Photochemistry, Reactivity and Environment (PRE) theme and serving as a member of the Photochemistry team. His research focuses on photoinduced reactions, triplet state reactivity, and environmental chemistry, particularly in atmospheric and aqueous systems.

Education:

• 2002-2005: PhD in Life Sciences: Resources and Environment from Seconda Universita di Napoli, Italy.
• 2002: Master's in Environmental Sciences, University of Naples, Italy.

Research Interests:

• Phototransformation of organic pollutants in cloud water and environmental matrices.
• Role of triplet states and inorganic radicals in oxidation processes.
• Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for water decontamination.
• Environmental fate of pollutants, including plastic additives and pharmaceuticals.
• Impact of light on cloud chemistry and aerosol reactivity.

• He leads the PRE theme, focusing on multiphase atmospheric chemistry and environmental remediation.
• Active in collaborative projects involving nanomaterials for catalytic degradation.
