Marcella Bucca is a Research Fellow at the University of Catania, affiliated with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A), and works under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan's ON Foods initiative. She holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Policy (2002) and a cum laude degree in Agricultural Sciences (1998).

Her research focuses on agricultural economics, food economics, rural valuation, and sustainable food systems. She has contributed to projects like PRIN on beneficial insects in Sicilian crops, INTERREG III C's COTOUR tourism initiative, and ATECADE's carob bean market analysis, alongside studies on dairy cattle breeding and citrus sector innovations.
Marcella has served as President of MIPAAF's Evaluation Committee for Special Research Projects (2015) and as a member of MIPAAF committees for rural development programs (2017–2021). She has held part-time teaching roles since 2005 and received the IRFIS study award nomination.
