Marcela Nava

Marcela Nava is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington. She researches health equity, political economy of health, public policy, immigration, and marginalized communities. As a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholar, she develops multi-level solutions to health inequities.

She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on health insurance, access to care, immigration policy, and social work research methods. Her practice-informed approach integrates her background as a community social worker and her identity as a mestiza child of immigrants.
