Marcela Farfan is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Felician University. She holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Felician University, a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University, and studied at Bergen Community College. Her research focuses on mindfulness, acculturation, multiculturalism, and language barriers in therapy, particularly within Latinx communities.
She has published works on mindfulness and language use with Latin American clients, and presented at national conferences such as the American Counseling Association. Marcela also serves as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Her professional experience includes internships at Mount Carmel Guild and board membership with the Franciscan Community Development Center.
Marcela teaches courses in counseling psychology at Felician University, including Mindfulness, Spirituality & Positive Psychology, and Marital and Family Counseling. In 2018, she established her private practice, Mindful Living Counseling and Wellness Center, emphasizing a mindfulness-based approach centered on client strengths.
