Marcel Berlanger

Marcel Berlanger is a Professor of Painting at the École de Recherche Graphique (ERG) in Brussels, where he has taught since 1993 and currently leads the Master's program in Art Practice - Critical Tools, Arts and Simultaneous Context. His artistic training includes studies at St Luc and ERG under mentors like Joëlle Tuerlinckx and Marthe Wéry. Berlanger’s practice extends beyond painting into spatial and luminous installations, collaborating frequently with his sister Françoise on theater projects.

His work has been exhibited globally, including at WIELS, SMAK, and institutions in Luxembourg, France, and Germany. Key solo exhibitions include Fig. (BPS22, 2018), raster master (Rodolphe Janssen Gallery, 2016), and Glaukopos (Van Bommel Van Dam Museum, 2008). Represented by galleries like Rodolphe Janssen (Brussels) and Nosbaum Reding (Luxembourg), his installations explore interdisciplinary boundaries between visual art, performance, and environment.

Berlanger’s career reflects a commitment to experimental art forms, blending traditional painting techniques with contemporary spatial interventions. His academic role at ERG underscores his dual focus on artistic education and innovative creative practice.
