Marc Ventura Oller is a Senior Scientist and Technical Deputy Director at the Center for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB), affiliated with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). His research focuses on evolutionary ecology of continental aquatic systems, particularly using planktonic crustaceans in Pyrenean lakes as models for studying species evolution and eco-evolutionary feedbacks. He also investigates biological invasions, especially impacts of introduced fish on high mountain ecosystems.
- 1993: Degree in Biology, University of Barcelona
- 1994: MSc in Natural Resource Management, University of Leicester
- 2005: PhD, University of Barcelona
His work integrates genetic differentiation, stable isotope analysis, and community dynamics to address conservation challenges in remote aquatic habitats. Current projects include the Catalan Earth BioGenome Initiative and invasive species studies using environmental DNA.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in invasion ecology, climate change impacts on mountain lakes, and genetic tools for monitoring biodiversity. Awards include Ramon y Cajal and Marie Curie fellowships.

- Marie Curie Researcher
He leads restoration efforts in the LIFE RESQUE ALPYR project and contributes to regional conservation strategies for endangered species like Pyrenean newts.
