Marc Trabsky is Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Justice Innovation at Monash University's Faculty of Law, with adjunct status at La Trobe University. His socio-legal research examines coronial law, end-of-life governance, and the socio-ethical implications of forensic technologies. Trabsky was awarded an Australian Research Council DECRA Fellowship (2022-2025) to study virtual autopsy technologies in coronial investigations.
Research explores thanatopolitics, medico-legal interfaces, and the institutional management of death. Current work analyzes how forensic imaging transforms evidentiary practices in death investigations and impacts bereavement experiences. Publications critically assess legal definitions of death, voluntary assisted dying legislation, and pandemic mortality accounting.
Recent scholarly output demonstrates sustained engagement with death's materiality, juridical categorization, and technological mediation. Research trajectories intersect medical humanities, critical legal studies, and technology ethics.
Trabsky has held visiting positions at Leeds, Bath, Kent, Sydney, and UTS. He serves as Vice-President of the Law and Society Association of Australia and New Zealand and contributes to the Health+Law Research Partnership.
