Marc Ross serves as Head Librarian for Hanley and Haskell Libraries at the University of Pittsburgh, recently assuming leadership at Hanley Library following Marietta Frank's retirement while maintaining his position at Haskell Memorial Library on the Titusville campus since 2014. His dual-library oversight encompasses operational management and academic support services across both campuses.
He holds a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Pittsburgh and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) at the same institution, reflecting his commitment to advanced professional development in educational leadership.
As a part-time instructor, Ross specializes in facilitating student transitions from high school to college through critical-thinking skill development and multimodal learning methodology instruction. His professional expertise spans library science, information literacy frameworks, academic research support systems, and educational technology integration, with particular focus on bridging pedagogical gaps for first-year students in both physical and virtual learning environments.
Prior to his librarian appointments, Ross held multiple Pittsburgh campus positions including information technology facilitation specialist, research assistant, and EZBorrow/circulation desk specialist, demonstrating progressive expertise in library operations and academic resource management.
