Marc Lanteigne is a Professor of Political Science at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education. He holds an adjunct lecturer position at Ilisimatusarfik (University of Greenland). With a Ph.D. from McGill University, his research focuses on China’s foreign policy, Arctic and Antarctic politics, security studies, and international political economy. He has conducted fieldwork in regions such as the Arctic, Asia-Pacific, and Pacific Islands.
Key research interests include non-traditional security, comparative international organizations, and the evolving roles of non-Arctic states in Arctic diplomacy. He co-directs the War and Peace Dimensions (WarPeD) research group and participates in initiatives like The Grey Zone (hybrid warfare analysis) and the Polar Research and Policy Initiative. His work has appeared in outlets like The Diplomat, The Economist, and Global Asia, and he has contributed to policy discussions on China’s Belt and Road Initiative, digital currency strategies, and regional security dynamics.
Lanteigne has taught courses on global security, political economy, and migration at UiT, and has guest-lectured at institutions including the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and Peking University. His publications span books, peer-reviewed articles, and policy analyses, addressing topics such as China’s Arctic engagement, hybrid threats, and pandemic-era disinformation.
