Marc LaPointe is a Lecturer in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Eastern Washington University. His work explores ephemeral concepts of place, memory, and material through sculpture, performance, and collaborative projects. He holds an MFA from the University of Minnesota (2018) and a BFA from the University of Idaho.
Research interests include interdisciplinary collaborations, performance art, and contemporary sculpture, with a focus on community engagement. Notable projects include his role as Jerome Fellow at Franconia Sculpture Park, contributions to the Queer Forms exhibition (2019), and coordination of the Winter is Alive! climate-awareness event (2021). He also participated in the 2022 International Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art in Berlin, serving on a panel about protest and identity in iron art.
His work has been showcased in exhibitions such as Metro-dimensional: Exploratory Sculptural Artworks (Arizona), Sowing Iron: Cast Iron Sculpture Exhibit (Iowa), and The Body Is But A Vessel (England). Awards include the Jerome Fellowship, recognizing his artistic and curatorial contributions.
LaPointe supports student development through mentorship and integrates community-driven initiatives into his practice, advocating for art as a catalyst for social reflection and action.
