Marc Hirschmann is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on high-pressure/high-temperature experimental studies of planetary interiors, particularly the role of lithologic heterogeneity in basalt source regions, volatile element cycling, and redox processes in terrestrial and Martian magmatism.
- Contact: mmh@umn.edu
- Lab: Experimental Petrology Lab
His work employs advanced analytical tools such as electron microprobe, FTIR, SIMS, XANES, Mössbauer spectroscopy, EBSD, and LA-ICP-MS. He actively seeks undergraduate research students with Python programming skills for planetary science projects.
