Marc Briggs is a Lecturer and Head of Subject (Sport & Exercise) within the Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation at Northumbria University. His academic career focuses on sports nutrition, sports physiology, and the application of sports science to coaching, with teaching contributions across all undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Marc's research specializes in dietary habits of adolescent athletes, energy availability assessment, passive heating strategies for performance optimization, and nutritional education interventions. He has developed innovative methods to evaluate energy consumption in elite soccer players and implemented intervention strategies to improve nutritional practices.
His applied consultancy work includes collaborations with professional football clubs such as Sunderland AFC (as Sport Nutritionist), Newcastle United, and Middlesbrough. He has also delivered international training sessions on nutrition and plyometrics to Olympic team coaches in Zambia.
