Marc A. Moffett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), part of the College of Liberal Arts. His research focuses on epistemology, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and metaphysics. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder (2003) and a B.A. from New Mexico State University (1993).
His work explores topics such as intellectualism about knowledge-how, the nature of epistemic reasons, and the role of intuition in philosophical methodology. Notable publications include co-editing Knowing How: Essays on Knowledge, Mind and Action (Oxford UP, 2012) and recent contributions to Ratio and the Routledge Handbook of the Philosophy of Evidence.
Moffett teaches courses on philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and independent study/thesis supervision. His research critically engages with functionalism, folk psychology, and the relationship between propositional attitudes and mental content. Ongoing projects include act-centered epistemic conservatism and action-theoretic foundations in epistemology.
