Mara Maravilha

Mara Maravilha is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Art at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu's School of Education. With a 2022 PhD in Art Education from the University of Porto, she focuses on inventiveness and autonomy in childhood through artistic expression. Her academic journey includes a 2007 Master's in Sculpture from the University of Porto and a 2004 Bachelor's in Teaching Visual and Technological Education from the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu.

• Current Role: Visiting Assistant Professor (since 2020).
• Research Interests: Art Education, Visual and Performing Arts, Scenography, Pedagogical Innovation, and Childhood Creativity.

Her recent publications center on cultural performance pedagogy and childhood education, with a 2022 book chapter on the 40+1 Artistic Project highlighting creative learning frameworks. Mara also organizes key educational events like Palhaços à solta (2006–present) and Dias Abertos (2016), blending art and education. Notable artistic works include the 2017 interactive piece isto não é uma nuvem at Lisbon’s Belém Cultural Center and the 2007 theatrical adaptation Juntos na Algibeira. She contributes to groups like Zunzum Association (2007–present) and co-founded the Paradinha School Parents’ Association (2018–present).
