Mara Derderian

Mara Derderian serves as a Lecturer of Finance in the College of Business at Bryant University, where she teaches courses in financial management, risk management and insurance, and securities brokerage. She concurrently holds two directorship roles: Director of the Financial Planning Program for undergraduate students pursuing Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation and Director of the Women in Finance Leadership Initiative.

Her academic credentials include a B.S. in Finance from Bryant University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Bentley University. Prior to her academic career, Professor Derderian accumulated over a decade of industry experience as a Vice President at Citi Private Bank and HSBC Bank USA Private Bank.

Her professional focus centers on Financial Planning, Risk Management, Insurance, Securities Brokerage, and Financial Management. This expertise stems directly from her extensive private banking background, enabling her to bridge theoretical concepts with practical financial industry applications in the classroom.

As Director of the Financial Planning Program, she guides students through CFP® certification requirements while leading the Women in Finance Leadership Initiative to develop female talent in the field. Her professional engagement extends to the Financial Planning Association of Rhode Island, where she serves on the board, strengthening academic-industry connections.
