Manuela Hidalgo Muñoz

Manuela Hidalgo Muñoz is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Girona. She contributes to the Department of Chemistry within the School of Sciences, teaching in the Chemistry and Environmental Science BSc programs, as well as the Master’s programs in Water Science and Technology and Applied Chromatographic Techniques.

• PhD in Chemistry (1991) from Autonomous University of Barcelona
• BSc in Chemistry from Autonomous University of Barcelona (1986)

Her research spans Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Science, focusing on chromatographic techniques, atomic spectrometry (ICP and XRF), and sample treatment methodologies. She investigates the mobilility and fate of contaminants in environmental systems, contributing to over 120 research papers.

She leads the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Research Group at the University of Girona and has supervised 11 PhD theses. Her work bridges separation science and environmental chemistry, impacting water and contamination studies.
