Manuela Gallerani

Manuela Gallerani is a Full Professor in the Department of Education Studies at the University of Bologna. She holds a Ph.D. in Education Sciences and teaches General Pedagogy and Theory and Models in Lifelong Learning at the School of Education Sciences. She has been a Chair of Cestriell (Lifelong Learning Centre) since 2015 and is a member of CSGE at the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on theoretical and empirical aspects of critical rationalism in Pedagogical Problematicism, intercultural education, and lifelong learning dynamics.

Education: She earned her Ph.D. in Education Sciences and completed research doctorate studies at Humboldt University Berlin. She has held adjunct professor roles at the University of Bolzano and Urbino. Her international collaborations include partnerships with UCLA, Humboldt University Berlin, and Voralberg University.

Research Interests: Her work bridges philosophy of education with practical didactics, emphasizing ethical education, intercultural curricula, and adult learning. Key themes include active citizenship through integrated educational systems, gender differences in educational processes, and the concept of 'care' in Medical Humanities.

Publications: Over 20 books and chapters, including seminal works on ethical pedagogy and intercultural education. Recent articles focus on lifelong learning frameworks and gender dynamics in educational contexts.

Awards: Awarded the prestigious Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale-ASN for Full Professor in 2015. She has held multiple scholarships including Research Doctorate, Post-Doctorate, and CNR grants.
