Manuela Boin

Professor Manuela Boin holds dual appointments at the Technical University of Ulm within the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Economics and the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. She serves as Chair of the Examination Board for CSE (Computer Science and Engineering), Member of the Senate Joint Commission, Chair of the Internship Office for CSE, and Member of the Examination Board for Automotive Engineering.

Her research spans two primary domains: vehicle safety engineering and STEM education. In vehicle safety, she focuses on integrated vehicle safety systems, crash and occupant simulation, occupant protection in autonomous vehicles, and advanced human modeling techniques. Her educational research examines the transition from school to university with emphasis on mathematics and physics, utilizing e-learning and blended learning methodologies.

Professor Boin actively supervises student projects and theses across multiple domains including ergonomic optimization of rowing seats, human model positioning with THUMS 5, pelvic movement mapping for rowing simulations, and improved scaling of human models. She also develops educational tools such as 3D models for multidimensional functions.

She maintains affiliations with the Institute of Applied Natural Sciences, Institute for University Didactics, and Institute for Applied Research. Professor Boin participates in diversity initiatives including BayernMentoring for female students in technical fields and ArbeiterKind.de supporting first-generation university students.
