Dr. Manuel Staab is a Lecturer in Economics at the School of Economics, The University of Queensland (UQ), within the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law. He holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE), supervised by Francesco Nava and Balázs Szentes. Prior to his academic role, he worked as a consultant applying game theory to procurement and contract negotiations, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE).
His research focuses on microeconomic theory, particularly information economics, game theory, and networks, with a specialization in social interactions and information misperception. Key themes include the formation of social groups under status concerns, cooperation dynamics in asymmetric environments, and the evolution of risk-taking behaviors.
Staab’s work bridges theoretical models with experimental methods, exploring how perceptions of status and information shape economic decisions. His recent articles analyze cooperation resilience in social dilemmas, anti-coordination games, and the strategic implications of misinformation. He is available for postgraduate supervision and actively contributes to research on peer effects and behavioral economic mechanisms.
