Manuel Saorín Castaño is a full Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Murcia, Spain. His primary affiliation is the Faculty of Mathematics, where he specializes in Algebra and its applications. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Murcia (1987), focusing on the study of dimensions of endomorphism rings of quasi-projective modules under the supervision of Dr. José Luis Gómez Pando.
His research interests are centered on Associative Rings and Algebras, Category Theory, Homological Algebra, and Representation Theory. He has contributed extensively to the study of t-structures, derived categories, silting theory, and module categories, with a particular emphasis on their applications to algebraic structures and categorical frameworks.
Prof. Saorín has authored over 80 publications in prestigious journals such as Journal of Algebra, Communications in Algebra, and Advances in Mathematics. His work often involves collaborations with leading researchers in the field, including Pedro Nicolás, Carlos Parra, and Jan Šťovíček. Key topics in his research include:
- Triangulated categories and model structures
- Recollement data and parametrization techniques
- Silting and tilting theory in abelian and triangulated categories
- Hearts of t-structures and Grothendieck categories
He has also contributed to edited volumes and has been cited over 650 times in zbMATH. His research bridges foundational algebraic structures with advanced categorical methods, influencing modern developments in representation theory and homological algebra.
