Manuel Gonzalez-Rivero is a Research Fellow at the University of Queensland (UQ), affiliated with the Global Change Institute. His research focuses on coral reef ecosystems, spatial/temporal ecology, and ecosystem-based modelling to inform management strategies. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Exeter under Prof. Peter J. Mumby.
Research interests include climate change impacts on coral reefs, ocean warming, acidification, and phenological responses. He contributed to the Catlin Seaview Survey, using innovative technologies to assess global reef changes. Notable work includes analyzing coral resilience via DNA techniques and studying climate vulnerability in tropical fisheries.
No scientific awards explicitly mentioned. Advised under Prof. Ove Hoegh-Guldberg and A/Prof. Sophie Dove during his postdoctoral studies.
