Manuel Buchmann is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (WWZ) at the University of Basel, Switzerland, where he is also a PhD student. His office is located at Peter Merian-Weg 6, 4002 Basel.

Manuel Buchmann's research focuses on labor economics, particularly demographic change and its impact on labor markets, computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling, the supply and demand of skilled labor, and applied econometrics. His work aims to understand future labor market challenges in Switzerland, especially in the context of an aging population and evolving skill requirements.
His recent publications and work in progress analyze long-term labor needs in Switzerland up to 2060 and the role of expectations in job search behavior. These studies employ rigorous econometric and modeling techniques to inform policy and economic planning.
Manuel Buchmann has been actively involved in teaching, supervising Bachelor theses in Labor Economics in 2017 and 2018, demonstrating his commitment to student mentorship and academic development.
