Dr. Manja Placke is the Central Data Manager of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funded DAM Research Mission CDRmare, affiliated with the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) in Rostock, Germany. Her role involves coordinating research data management, ensuring FAIR data practices, and collaborating with institutions like GEOMAR and PANGAEA. She holds a PhD in Meteorology from Leipzig University and has extensive experience in climate modeling and oceanography.
Education:
- PhD in Meteorology, Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), University of Rostock (2008–2014)
- Meteorology Diploma, Leipzig University (2002–2007)
Research Interests: Marine carbon sinks, climate modeling, data management frameworks, and ocean circulation dynamics. She specializes in validating regional climate models and assessing their performance in the Baltic Sea through initiatives like the Baltic Sea Model Intercomparison Project (BMIP).
