معرفی
Monika Nausch is a senior researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW), specializing in marine biology and phosphorus cycling. Her work focuses on microbial processes, dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP) dynamics, and impacts of ocean acidification on nutrient cycles, particularly in the Baltic Sea ecosystem.
- Education: Diploma in Marine Biology and Fishery (Rostock University, 1976), PhD in Experimental Ecology (Rostock University, 1983).
- Positions: Scientific Assistant (Rostock University, 1976–1983), Postgraduate Immunology Expert (1986–1990), Senior Scientist at IOW since 1992.
- Research Focus: Phosphorus sources for cyanobacteria blooms, regulation mechanisms by filamentous cyanobacteria, DOP characterization, and diffuse phosphorus discharges into coastal waters.
- Projects: Funded by Forschungsstiftung Ostsee and Leibniz Association, including MEPHOR (2015–2018) and phosphorus transformation studies in the Benguela upwelling system.
- Teaching: Led fieldwork courses, microbiological internships, and lectures on oceanography and immunology principles.
