Manios Thrassyvoulos

Professor Manios Thrassyvoulos is a faculty member at the Hellenic Mediterranean University, specializing in Waste Management and Reuse in Agriculture. He holds a BSc in Agricultural Biology and Biotechnology from the Agricultural University of Athens, a BEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras, and a PhD in Civil Engineering and Molecular Biology from the University of Leeds (UK). As Vice Rector of Finance, Planning, and Development since 2017, he oversees strategic initiatives at the university.

His research focuses on circular economy technologies, solid waste management, and wastewater treatment. Notable projects include optimizing anaerobic digestion processes for biogas production, developing bioplastics from food waste, and assessing environmental impacts of agricultural practices. He also explores innovative solutions for food waste reduction through mobile apps like FoodSaveShare and community composting programs.
