Prof. Dr. Manfred Grieger is an Honorary Professor at the Institute of Economic and Social History at Georg-August-University Göttingen. His career spans academic and corporate roles, including leading Historical Communications at Volkswagen AG from 1998 to 2016. He holds a doctoral degree in philosophy from Ruhr University Bochum (1996), focusing on the history of the Volkswagen factory in the Third Reich.
His research interests include National Socialism, corporate history, forced labor, environmental history, utilities, and mobility history. Grieger has conducted extensive studies on Volkswagen's history, Nazi-era labor practices, and post-war industrial development. He has also contributed to projects on the history of Dresdner Bank AG and authored works such as "The City of the KdF Car near Fallersleben" (manuscript) exploring Volkswagen's model city in Brazil (1950–1985).
Professional memberships include the Historical Commission for Lower Saxony and Bremen and the Working Group for Critical Corporate and Industrial History. He currently teaches and consults at the University of Göttingen, with digital consultation hours available by appointment.
