معرفی
Mandy O'Connor is an Adjunct Research Fellow at Monash University, affiliated with the Evidence Synthesis Qual & Implt Methods group. She is actively engaged in research projects focused on public health, implementation science, and health equity, particularly in the areas of disability health, early parenting services, and First Peoples' wellbeing. Her work often involves co-design methodologies and evidence synthesis to support health service development and evaluation.
Her research interests center on improving health outcomes through evidence-based interventions, with a strong emphasis on qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. She investigates the biopsychosocial determinants of health behaviors, implementation barriers and enablers in real-world settings, and the co-design of services with vulnerable populations. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and wellbeing, reduced inequalities, and partnerships for impact.
The recent publications highlight a consistent trend in implementation science, particularly using frameworks like CFIR and Intervention Mapping. Her research spans disability-inclusive health promotion, childhood obesity prevention in primary care, and mental health service design for youth. These works reflect a deep commitment to equitable, participatory, and evidence-informed health research.
Mandy O'Connor has been a Chief Investigator or Primary Chief Investigator on multiple externally funded projects, including those with the Department of Health (Victoria), Queen Elizabeth Centre, and First Peoples’ Health and Wellbeing organizations. These projects focus on evaluating early parenting centres, developing Birthing on Country models, and implementing outcomes frameworks. She also contributes to academic and policy discourse through workshop participation and programme committees, such as in preconception health priority setting.
She is part of a collaborative research network led by Professor Helen Skouteris and works closely with teams across Monash University and external health service providers. Her role in research design, evaluation, and knowledge translation underscores her position as a key contributor to applied health research in Australia.
