Dr. Mandi A. Schaeffer Fry is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Denver (DU), having transitioned from a Full Professor role at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver), where she remains an affiliate professor. She joined DU in September 2023 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2024. Her research focuses on finite group theory, representation theory, and character theory, particularly in local-global conjectures and Galois automorphisms. She holds a B.S. (2009) and Ph.D. (2013) from the University of Arizona, advised by Professors Klaus Lux and Pham Huu Tiep.
Her work is supported by an NSF CAREER Grant (DMS-2439897) and includes collaborations with leading researchers globally. She is an Associate Editor at Communications in Algebra and actively organizes conferences, such as the 2024 event honoring Jon Hall. Upcoming activities include a 3-lecture series in Wuppertal, Germany (2025), exploring representation theory of groups of Lie type.
Dr. Fry’s career highlights include early tenure at MSU Denver (2018), promotion to Full Professor (2022), and contributions to resolving longstanding conjectures like Brauer’s Height Zero Conjecture. She emphasizes mentorship, having advised diverse undergraduate students at MSU Denver, and now seeks to engage graduate students at DU.
