Malvina Halberstam is a Professor at Yeshiva University's Cardozo School of Law, where she is a founding faculty member. She has held teaching positions at Loyola Law School (Los Angeles), University of Southern California, University of Texas, University of Virginia, and The Hebrew University. Her career includes roles as a law clerk to Judge Edmund Palmieri, assistant district attorney under Frank Hogan, reporter for the American Law Institute’s Model Penal Code Project, and counselor on international law at the U.S. Department of State. She contributed to the Restatement of U.S. Foreign Relations Law (Third) and led U.S. negotiations for the 1988 Maritime Navigation Convention.
- Education: B.A., Brooklyn College (1957); J.D. and M.I.A., Columbia University (1961, 1964).
Her research focuses on international law, U.S. foreign relations law, human rights, women’s rights, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and criminal law. She has authored articles and co-authored Women’s Legal Rights: International Covenants an Alternative to the E.R.A.
