Malte Mohme

Malte Mohme is a Senior Physician and Head of the Working Group for CNS Tumor Immunology at the Department of Neurosurgery, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hamburg. He holds the academic rank of Privatdozent (Senior Lecturer) and is a certified Medical Specialist in Neurosurgery with additional certification in Special Neurosurgical Oncology (NCA).

Dr. Mohme completed his medical training and habilitation with summa cum laude on T-cell immunology in multiple sclerosis. His research is centered on tumor immunology in central nervous system malignancies, particularly gliomas and brain metastases. He investigates immune escape mechanisms, T-cell responses, circulating tumor cells, and DNA methylation-based tumor classification. His work bridges clinical neurosurgery and translational immunology.

His recent publications highlight a strong trend in neuro-immuno-oncology, with a focus on immune microenvironment profiling, liquid biopsy, epigenetic signatures, and personalized immunotherapy in brain tumors. Articles span high-impact journals such as Nature, Nature Medicine, Neuro-Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research, demonstrating consistent contributions to understanding glioma biology and immunotherapy resistance.
