Prof. Malte Kohns Vasconcelos is a Professor and Head of Epidemiology at the Institute of Medical Biometry and Epidemiology within the Faculty of Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). His work focuses on epidemiological studies in infectious diseases, pediatrics, and antimicrobial resistance. He leads research in areas such as bacterial and viral pathogen detection, antibiotic stewardship, and public health responses to outbreaks.
Key research interests include pediatric infectious disease management, molecular epidemiology, and translational research in clinical settings. His contributions span diagnostic algorithms for neuroborreliosis, tuberculosis in immunocompromised children, and genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2.
