Denise Köster is a Research Fellow and doctoral student at the University of Hamburg’s Faculty of Medicine, affiliated with the Institute of Medical Biometry and Epidemiology within the Center for Experimental Medicine at Universitätsklinikum Eppendorf (UKE). Her work focuses on medical biometry, epidemiology, and infectious disease modeling, with a particular emphasis on diagnostic test development and outbreak response strategies. She holds an M.Sc. and is actively involved in collaborative research projects addressing public health challenges. Her research has been published in journals such as Communications Medicine, Epidemics, and European Journal of General Practice.
Dr. Köster’s expertise includes statistical methods for disease modeling and healthcare data analysis. She is a member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (GMDS) and the Internationale Biometrische Gesellschaft’s German region (IBS-DR). Her doctoral research contributes to refining methodologies for evaluating diagnostic tools during emerging infectious disease outbreaks.
Her work spans interdisciplinary collaborations, including studies on alcohol consumption interventions in youth and biomarker analyses for cardiovascular conditions like atrial fibrillation. She is based at the UKE’s Quartier am Zeughaus campus and can be reached at d.koester@uke.de.
