Mallory Szymanski is an Associate Professor of History at Alfred University, affiliated with the Human Studies Department, Women's and Gender Studies Program, and Africana Studies Program. She holds a PhD in History (University of Florida, 2017), an MA in Women's Studies (University of Florida, 2008), and a BA in English and History (University of Florida, 2006).

Her research focuses on cultural and gender history of 19th- and 20th-century United States, particularly examining gendered experiences of police violence, the history of neurasthenia, and intersections of Black history with medical and gender studies. She co-founded the Upstate New York Policing Research Consortium (UNY-PRC) and is co-authoring a book on Black women killed by the Rochester Police Department since 1975.
Recent publications analyze police reform legacies, neurasthenia in legal defenses, and Gilded Age sexual health education. She directs the Africana Studies program, advises Phi Alpha Theta and the African Studies Student Association, and co-edits Clio and the Contemporary. Teaching emphasizes experiential learning through field trips, digital history, and public engagement partnerships with institutions like the Susan B. Anthony Museum.
