Dr. Mallika Leuzinger is a Research Fellow at the Leibniz Centre for Modern Oriental Studies (ZMO), specializing in the visual history and archival politics of South Asia. Her work examines how photography, memory projects, and citizen archives reshape historical narratives in postcolonial contexts.

Research Focus: Leuzinger investigates the intersection of amateur photography, gender, and archival practices in South Asia. Her current project analyzes 'citizen archives' that transform private visual materials into public historical resources, exploring how these platforms influence political memory and cultural identity.
Publications: Her scholarly output centers on visual culture in South Asia, with recurring themes including women photographers' contributions (Haleema Hashim, Debalina Majumdar), the politics of amateur photography, and decolonial approaches to archival practices. Recent work demonstrates increased focus on digital archives and transregional memory networks.
