Malin Carlström

Malin Carlström is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Gothenburg and a Swedish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Turku. Her expertise spans Russian literature, translation studies, and the analysis of paratexts in literary reception. She holds a PhD in Slavic Languages (2020) and a Master’s in Translation (2010), both from the University of Gothenburg. Her current project focuses on the publication, marketing, and reception of Swedish literature in Russia, funded by the Swedish Research Council.

Research Interests:
Her work explores intertextuality in Russian literature, translation reception, and the role of paratexts (e.g., book covers, reviews) in shaping literary interpretation. She investigates how intertextual references are translated and how paratexts influence the visibility and reception of translated works.

Key Projects:
Her doctoral thesis analyzed Tatyana Tolstaya’s Kys’, focusing on translation strategies and reception in Sweden and the U.S. Her postdoc project includes compiling a bibliography of Swedish literature translations into Russian (1946–2021) and analyzing their paratextual framing.
