Malikeya Khantrece serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Law, Criminal Justice & Society within the University of Pittsburgh's College of General Studies, teaching core courses including LCJS 0100 (Introduction to Law, Criminal Justice, & Society), LCJS 1550 (Gender, Race, Class & Criminal Justice), and LCJS 1770 (Ethics in Criminal Justice). She concurrently works as a Mitigation Specialist/Investigator for the Federal Public Defender in the Capital Habeas Unit, specializing in death penalty appeal cases.
She is currently pursuing an EdD in Multicultural and Anti-Racist Educational Professional Practice at Antioch University, building on prior professional experience as a prisoner's rights advocate, poverty law advocate, and restorative justice practitioner. Her educational trajectory focuses on systemic alternatives to carceral systems.
Her research centers on dismantling prison pipelines through Antiracist educational curriculum development, human rights frameworks, and Truth & Reconciliation practices. This work integrates prison abolition theory with practical applications in criminal justice reform, emphasizing community-based solutions over punitive discipline systems.
Prof. Khantrece has extensive experience teaching race, racism, and American Law in law school settings. Her professional and academic work demonstrates a unified commitment to transforming justice systems through education, advocacy, and policy reform.
