Malcolm Wardlaw

Dr. Malcolm Wardlaw is an Assistant Professor of Finance and Managerial Economics at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin (2011) and a B.A. in Economics from Rice University (2000). His research focuses on corporate finance, banking, energy risk management, and institutional capital dynamics.

His work has been published in Review of Financial Studies and Journal of Finance, exploring topics such as regulatory decision-making in bank closures and the impact of financing constraints on workplace safety. He has received the Clyde W. and Bonnie Patton Smith Endowed Presidential Fellowship (2007–2010) and served as a paper discussant at the Financial Management Association annual meeting.

Teaching experience includes courses in Business Finance, Financial Modeling, and Energy Risk Management at the University of Texas at Austin. His professional background includes roles at McKinsey & Company (2000–2002) and R7 Solutions Software (2003–2005), where he led sales and marketing efforts for GIS software solutions.
